Since I've been blogging, I usually get emails, comments and tweets about my hair and makeup funnily enough I have never thought I was good at doing makeup and usually stick to what I think suits me best, I guess I must be doing something right, so I've decided to do a little post on the products I use. My hair is a whole different story, it can make or break an outfit- I'll save that post for another time.

On a day to day bases I don't use foundation, usually a very standard moisturiser, like Nivea, and a little pink blusher (Dolly Mix from MAC) or bronzer (Bodyshop) on my cheeks immediately after so it sticks. If I have a blemish or two I just dab a little bit of concealer on my finger and cover them. After that a little mascara (Dior) and then one of the most important things for me, kohl pencil in my eyes. I use one called Hashmi Kajal, which I stock up on when I'm in Lahore, but you can use any-MAC do great ones.

'Dollymix'

Over the years I have become obsessed with lipsticks, for me it's the most important part of makeup, can't live without them. The two commonly used ones by me are, 'Please Me' and 'Kinda Sexy' from MAC.

This summer I started experimenting with lip shades, I bought two bright colours I wore all summer 'Impassioned' and 'Morange' both from MAC. If you follow my blogs regularly, this one and Photo Diary Of a Stylist you have probably noticed me wearing a bright pink a lot. If you wish to see just click on my 'Today I'm Wearing' and have a look.

'Please Me'- a dull pink shade by MAC, that I've been wearing almost everyday for the last 6 years. Always a safe and pretty choice, the lipstick texture is a little dry and tends to need an application of lip balm before you apply it. - A must buy.

'Impassioned'- a very bright and loud pink which is a good way to make you feel dressed up on the days you feel like being very casual but still wanting to look fashionable. I wear it with everything and at all kinds of occasions with all sorts of colours, great for colour blocking.

'Morange'- I personally LOVE this colour on me because it suits my tan skin tone, I don't know if it will suit everyone but it's worth a try, another great shade for colour blocking.

For the evenings, or 'going out' makeup sometimes I'll apply tinted moisturiser also from MAC as it is light and I don't have uneven skin so it merely gives me a tidy finish. If I'm wearing a bright lip shade like 'Impassioned' or 'Morange' then I make sure I apply my liquid eye-liner rather thin on my eyelids, but if I'm going for something a little dull like 'Please Me' then I tend to make my eye-liner thicker.

This is the tinted moisturiser I'll apply when I'm going to a party or something, I don't usually like getting my skin or myself use to foundations and things like that, I have this theory that the more skin products you use and get use to the more you need them, and that is my biggest fear- not liking myself without them.

What Goes Into Making A Chanel Haute Couture Coat?

Ever wondered what goes into making an haute couture garment?

To start, it's the uniqueness of design, the expert workmanship and the materials are of the highest quality. They are sewn, embroidered and beaded by hand, and several hundred hours can be required to complete one piece.

Made to order by a mere handful of approved design houses that adhere to the rigid requirements as defined by the Syndical Chamber for Haute Couture in Paris, the garments can cost upwards of $100,000. There are about 2,000 haute couture clients in the world, and of them only 200 or so are considered to be regular buyers.

Step 1: The herringbone patterns are drawn on muslin

Step 2: The herringbone patterns are reproduced on fabric

Step 3: For the sleeves, the tweed herringbone designs

are placed on satin.

Step 4: The sleeves are then transferred to a
wooden form

Step 5: The tweed herringbone is placed by hand
on the satin to ensure a perfect fit.

Step 6: Rigorous checking is carried out during the
mounting of the pieces, to ensure the proportions are
true to the design.

Step 7: The lining is affixed inside.

Step 8: Shoes are selected to go with the coat.
The shoes are handmade in Massaro ateliers.

Step 9: The all-important fittings, during which final tiny but

sometimes crucial alterations are made.

Step 10: The look is ready and the model is
prepped backstage at the Grand Palais in Paris before Chanel’s haute

couture Fall 2008 show.

Net-a-porter have some beautiful shoes in stock as always, I just went on and picked out two pairs that I instantly fell for.

With leopard prints you either love them or hate them, if not worn properly it can look a little cheap and tacky, but of course on the other hand it can look very classy too. The sort of leopard print it is makes a huge difference too, I've always been a big fan of Dolce Gabbana's leopard prints and I think Louboutin does it well too. These pumps are super cute!!

Christophe Decarnin leaves Balmain

When designer Christopher Decarnin, one of my personal favourites in the industry, was absent at the Fall 2011 Balmain show at Paris Fashion Week rumours struck about him being in a psychiatric hospital for personal problems. Yesterday it was announced that Decarnin is departing the french design house since his appointment at the house in 2007 he helped revamp the label. I'm sad to hear this bit of news, his successor has not yet been announced lets see if anyone can out do Decarnin's designs.
Here's to a successful five years at design house Balmain.
